Abstract

The purpose of this work is to expose the current problems that the state of Zaruma suffers from illegal mining activities within its urban area, reason why the city of Zaruma has been the victim of continuous violations of its inheritance rights. Zaruma is a city declared as a magical figure of Ecuador, a candidate for the cultural heritage of Ecuador and the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. However, since the Spanish founded the city in 1595, it has been through mining activities and over time, the damage caused has increased as the city is affected from the foundation to the surface. Illegal mining activities not only affect the city's inheritance rights due to damage to its infrastructure, but also affect all of its residents, thereby violating a number of principles and rights, including the right to work for city residents.
