The importance of emotional intelligence in teaching practice

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is the ability or ability that people have to recognize their own feelings and those of others, which plays an important role in education. The objective of this study is to analyze and describe the importance of EI in teaching practice. A descriptive methodology of a documentary type was used, since the procedure involves a review. To do this, a search for information in journals and articles indexed in databases of Redib, Redalyc, Dialnet, Scielo, Base and Ebsco was carried out, using keywords. The sample consisted of 52 articles. The results show an increase in the production of studies related to the subject between the years 2019-2020 and in the vast majority they are crosssectional. Likewise, the highest percentage of studies correspond to the level of university education, followedby training for future teachers and primary / secondary level. It is concluded by noting that the educational transformation begins by taking into account the teacher as the main axis of the teaching-learning process, which has to be seen intellectually from their emotions to transmit knowledge.
